"Grind to a Halt" nghĩa là gì?

Động từ to grind trong thành ngữ này nghĩa là nghiền nát. Halt nghĩa là dừng lại, ngừng lại. Vì thế, 'grind to a halt' nghĩa là chầm chậm ngừng lại, không thể tiến hành được nữa.
