Some Americans could not have been in worse financial trouble last year. After borrowing (vay) too much money, they found they couldn't pay back what they owed (nợ). As a result, 1.6 million individuals filed for bankruptcy (khai phá sản). They felt they had no choice because they were in debt to the hilt (mắc nợ đìa xác pháo).

Credit (tín dụng) is a wonderful thing if you’re careful (thận trọng). That’s why I only have one credit card. My sister, on the other hand, has several. Sometimes she doesn’t realize how much she’s charged (trả tiền bằng thẻ tín dụng). Then the credit card bills arrive and she’s stressed (căng thẳng) to the hilt!
