"The whole ball of wax" nghĩa là gì?

'The whole ball of wax' (shared via VOA) nghĩa đen là toàn thể quả bóng bằng sáp, và nghĩa bóng là tất cả mọi yếu tố hay mọi thành phần của một vấn đề hay một quá trình. Thành ngữ này có từ thời thế kỷ thứ 17 bên Anh quốc. Khi phải chia gia tài cho một gia đình, luật sư viết từng phần gia tài vào một mảnh giấy bọc sáp rồi vo tròn lại thành từng quả bóng nhỏ. Mỗi người trong gia đình bốc lấy một quả bóng và phải nhận tất cả những gì thuộc phần của mình trong quả bóng đó.

I am afraid the union (công đoàn) is making demands (đòi hỏi) again. This time they not only want higher wages (lương bổng), but also pension plans (chương trình hưu bổng) and job security, the whole ball of wax.
