"Off-limits" nghĩa là gì?

'Off-limits' nghĩa là bị cấm không được lui tới, nằm ngoài khả năng/phạm vi (out of bounds, forbidden, banned, restricted, unacceptable, taboo); hoặc nghĩa khác là không nên được nhắc tới, không nên được bàn đến (not to be mentioned or discussed).

Ví dụ
Access to their mother's workshop was strictly off limits.

Water at Little Corona beach remains off-limits after sewage (nước cống, rác cống) spill (sự tràn, đổ ra).

In Israel's democracy (nền dân chủ), dissent (bất đồng quan điểm, bất đồng ý kiến) has always been off limits to Arab citizens.

A tacit (ngầm, không nói ra, ngụ ý) accommodation (sự thỏa hiệp) with Britain, the premier naval power, allowed the United States to declare in the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 its entire hemisphere off-limits for foreign colonization, decades before it had anything close to the power to enforce so sweeping (có ảnh hưởng sâu rộng) a pronouncement.
