"Like stink" nghĩa là gì?

'Like stink' nghĩa là rất vất vả, căng thẳng (extremely hard or intensely).

Ví dụ
The idea of a legal basis for challenging the government is for the birds. We will continue to work like stink to meet those targets.

It could be a while before you find the kind of job you’re looking for and you didn’t work like stink in your last position to pay off bingo debts.

My father just worked like stink in his wallpaper business and on the local council. He did do very well and he had a big house later, a lovely stately home, but he was always a man of the people.

United were the best team in the first half, scoring twice through a revitalised Rashford; then, in the second half, when Liverpool sought a way back, United contained them magnificently. Liverpool's much-vaunted forward line had no way through and David De Gea was barely in action. He was beaten by one off the heel of his own man, Eric Bailly. That aside, this was what Mourinho does best: get ahead, and work like stink to stay there.

'Raise a stink' có từ stink là mùi hôi thối, khó chịu, sự phiền toái, om sòm -> cụm từ này nghĩa là bới thối ra, làm toáng lên (to complain; to demand attention or remedy for a problem).

Ví dụ
Residents Raise a Stink Over Pig Farms in North Carolina.

Trade deal with European Union could raise a stink over rights to naming cheese.

A resident who claims the proper line wasn’t installed during the development is falsely raising a stink over the project.

The 52-year-old from the Siberian town of Luzino found the human bones and a skull and immediately told his 60-year-old wife.

According to Russian media, she told him: “Don’t worry, it’s my first husband. “Bury the remains again, forget about it, and we won’t tell the police.”

But he told officers and the unidentified woman confessed (thú nhận) to killing (giết) him, said Russian cops. The killer (kẻ sát nhân) claims her first husband (người chồng đầu tiên) came home drunk (say rượu) in 1997 and began hitting (đánh) her. So she says she grabbed (chộp lấy) an axe (cái rìu) and hit (đánh, bổ) the man in the head (đầu). When she discovered (phát hiện) he was dead she sliced up his body and buried the parts in the garden - where they lat undisturbed (không bị phá rối/làm phiền/xáo trộn) for 21 years.

...A police spokesman said: "It's possible that, by planting potatoes, this man saved his own life."

Rather than taking distressed (hư hỏng, đã qua sử dụng; được phát mại với giá rẻ; cũ kỹ) denim to new heights, these trousers are, all in all, pretty complete. You bum (mông đít; kẻ vô công rồi nghề, ăn bám) isn’t on show, there are no giant slashes, and they do indeed function as trousers should. There’s just one strange thing about them: they have a pocket directly over the penis area. Not a subtle pocket, we add. A contrast pocket, seemingly designed to draw everyone’s eyes directly to your crotch (đũng quần, đáy chậu).

Keys, wallet, phone – they’d all create a bumpy appearance that we doubt you’d want directly over your genitals. The pocket is also very slim, and only functions when your trousers are zipped and buttoned up. So any valuables you’d put in there would likely thud  (rơi thịch, ngã uỵch) out when you went for a piss.
