"Hop, skip and jump away" nghĩa là gì?

Photo by Kunj Parekh on Unsplash

"Hop, skip and jump away" ý chỉ khoảng cách ngắn, rất gần.

Legal marijuana (cần sa hợp pháp) is set to be just a hop, skip and jump away from Idaho.

I'm sitting on a park bench (ghế đá công viên) on a sunny Friday in Randwick, a Sydney suburb just a hop, skip and jump away from Bondi Beach.

Being just a hop, skip, and a jump (or maybe a nice stroll or bike ride) away, on the other hand, makes workers happier, more productive (năng suất hơn), and miss fewer days of work.

A hop, skip and a jump away from Coachella's home base in Indio and home to a handful of beautifully retro poolside hotels (khách sạn cổ điển bên hồ), it's no surprise that both eager partygoers (thích tiệc tùng) and world-traveling artists have begun to realize the potential of Palm Springs.

"Herculean effort" nghĩa là gì?

Photo by Alora Griffiths on Unsplash

"Herculean effort" -> công việc/hoạt động cần rất nhiều nỗ lực, năng lượng và sức lực của bản thân, đôi khi được sử dụng theo cách mỉa mai hoặc ngoa dụ.

Ví dụ
According to NBCUniversal chief executive officer (CEO-giám đốc điều hành) Steve Burke, it’s been a herculean effort to get the thing off the ground; a team of more than 500 people have been working on it. In addition to hits like The Office, he revealed, the platform (nền tảng) will host its own originals as well.

Since then, a stabilised pattern (một mẫu hình ổn định) of winter rain and a herculean effort from Cape Town residents (hộ dân cư) to cut down (giảm thiểu) on water usage has averted disaster (tránh/đẩy lui thảm họa). Although the city still remains a drought risk (nguy cơ hạn hán), those in the south-west will be sleeping a lot easier as we head towards summer.

Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter has a significantly longer script (kịch bản dài đáng kể) than all of Lord of the Rings. It's longer than War & Peace, which is just over 500,000 words. Translating it was a herculean effort and, as I recently learned from Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo who directed the Trails in the Sky series in the early 2000s, so was writing it. Most of SC's three million Japanese characters were written by just three people.

"Hit the nail on the head" nghĩa là gì?

Sự thật luôn đắng lòng. Photo by Joël de Vriend

"Hit the nail on the head" -> Nói về một điều gì một cách chính xác và đúng với sự thật hoặc làm việc gì một cách chính xác và hiệu quả.

Ví dụ
Your comments on all this really touched (làm cảm động) me, as you hit the nail on the head when you said, “Why did the publication feel the need to mar his memory by publishing these ‘facts’.” Is it to make them feel better about themselves?

Noah pretty much hit the nail on the head while explaining what Johansson was misunderstanding about diversity on his show.

Anna then stormed off (rời đi một cách giận dữ) as she admitted to Maura that she "hoped she was wrong" about her fellow Islander. However, fans at home believe that she had actually hit the nail on the head, flocking to social media to heap (chất đống) praise on her rant (chửi rủa).

The Citizen’s Kelly Egan hit the nail on the head in a column two weeks ago in the bitter aftermath (hậu quả) of the château (lâu đài) decision, and now Capital Coun. Shawn Menard is demanding the breakup of a planning committee that’s clearly stacked against urban residents and routinely votes against their interests.

"Marathon-viewing" nghĩa là gì?

Thức nguyên đêm chỉ để cày cho bằng hết các tập phim. Photo by freestocks.org on Unsplash

"Marathon-viewing" = "binge-watching" = xem liên tục, xay sưa (vì phim hay quá), nghĩa thuần Việt là "cày phim" đó các bạn. Từ này xuất hiện kể từ năm 2013 khi Netflix cho ra đời các bộ phim truyền hình dài tập, nhiều phần hấp dẫn khiến người xem không thể bỏ lỡ.

Ví dụ
Binge-watching isn’t that much different than being invested in a really good book. The time commitment (thời gian tiêu hao) is about the same.

Immersing yourself (đắm mình) in a marathon viewing of your favourite TV shows may be as close as you can get to living the lives of the characters.

According to researchers with the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, your binge-watching sessions may be putting your heart at risk, an effect that wasn’t associated with (không liên quan đến) sitting while at work.

Not that it necessarily should be. Indeed, sit down for a marathon viewing of the so-called “Infinity Saga”, and you’ll soon realize that pretty much every signature weapon (vũ khí đặc trưng) in the MCU (vũ trụ điện ảnh Marvel) changes hands at least once.

"A shot in the dark" nghĩa là gì?

Nhìn gì, bắn cho phát giờ. Photo by Sebastián León Prado on Unsplash

"A shot in the dark" = phát bắn trong bóng tối -> lời phỏng đoán hoặc ước lượng/ước tính rất ít hoặc không chính xác; đoán mò.

"When someone comes to a site for a shot in the dark right now, they can get one free bag of ten syringes," said Saucedo, who estimates (ước lượng) the group serves up to 3,000 people every week.

A producer who has received the notice said, “I made a film under a company a few years ago. The notice is issued in the company’s name. But details have been sought (tìm kiếm) of my personal income tax compliance (tuân thủ thuế thu nhập). These are two different things. It seems to be a shot in the dark to mop up (tiêu hết) some tax.

For a complete shot in the dark, Lopez might actually be turning into the guy a lot of people dreamed could be. He vowed (thề) to be a different pitcher (người ném bóng) after the All-Star break, and so far, he’s keeping that promise. Will it continue? Who knows, but I’m glad to be on this ride now.

It always seems a bit of a shot in the dark and a lot of my potential (tiềm năng) picks have all landed in the same quarter of the draw, which makes matters (vấn đề) even trickier (phức tạp hơn). I am going to stick with one of my initial (ban đầu) picks – despite the serious possibility they’ll be out in one of the opening rounds – and go for Ash Barty. The Aussie was in awesome form in Roland Garros as she won her first Slam and handled the pressure brilliantly (xử lý áp lực một cách thông minh) in Birmingham to rise to world No. 1 for the first time.

"Have a loud mouth" nghĩa là gì?

Im lặng là vàng. Photo by Kristina Flour

"Have a loud mouth" = Có mồm nói to -> Người nói to, ồn ào, lắm chuyện và không chừng mực.

Ví dụ
The US and Pakistan do not need the system and the good old politics, but rather a different approach. Trump has a loud mouth or perhaps a loud Twitter account.

Dabakis during the debate (tranh luận) acknowledged, "Yes, I have a loud mouth" and "Yes, I stand up for what I believe," but he said he also knows how to "bring people together." "When it comes right down to it, I know how to build bridges," Dabakis said. "I know how to get things done, but I also know how to stand up for Salt Lake."

But mostly he’s a loud-mouth and a Knicks fan. And that’s the hat he wore on Sunday as he watched alongside the rest of the world of NBA fandom as the Knicks swung hard and missed in their efforts to become relevant via NBA free agency.

"A chicken-and-egg situation" nghĩa là gì?

Photo by Idella Maeland on Unsplash

"A chicken-and-egg situation" = trứng có trước hay gà có trước -> tình huống trong đó bạn không biết sự kiện nào trong hai sự kiện được nói đến là nguyên nhân của sự kiện kia.

Ví dụ
Like many other areas, Barrow faces a real chicken and egg situation.

One of the more daunting aspects (mặt đáng sợ) of the mystery has to do with peptides and enzymes, which fall into something of a “chicken and egg” situation.

Until existing technology works smoothly, stakeholders (bên liên quan) can be cynical (hoài nghi, chỉ trích) – unwilling to explore future developments. This creates a chicken and egg situation.

If a man experiences difficulties due to organic causes (nguyên nhân bên trong cơ thể), he also has a psychological burden (gánh nặng tâm lý) on him for performance, and vice versa (ngược lại) if there is a psychological issue that affects the electrical system. This is a chicken-and-egg situation — whichever comes first is actually not important.

"Blow your cover" nghĩa là gì?

Là cô gái hay mộng mơ. Photo by  Johannes Plenio

"Blow your cover" = Thổi bay vỏ bọc của ai -> Bóc trần một sự thật hoặc bí mật của ai.

Ví dụ
The RAW and SmackDown announcer tweeted out a mild threat (đe dọa nhẹ) toward Ron Killings while claiming that he can blow his cover at any time.

Next week sees a suspicious Dr Levi Rochester investigate Maxine’s symptoms (triệu chứng, dấu hiệu) once again… could he be the one to blow her cover?

Sienna may be planning to run away, but she knows that she can't blow her cover until Maxine's wedding day arrives. With this in mind, when Brody catches Sienna holding a teddy that she has dug out for the children, she has to avoid arousing (đánh thức, khuấy động) any suspicion.

"A tough cookie" nghĩa là gì?

Người đàn bà hóa đá. Photo by Aaron Lee

"A tough cookie" = Bánh quy khó nhai -> Người mạnh mẽ, có ý chí, tự tin và can đảm, đặc biệt không dễ bị lung lay hay bị đánh bại.

Ví dụ
She might be a tough cookie, but Sandy is also well respected by both her peers (đồng trang lứa) and her subordinates (cấp dưới).

"It is a difficult world and you do have to be a tough cookie to make it," she said. "If I was to do it again, I'd do it at a younger age.

Recently, a client told me, “You’re a tough cookie.” Many have told me, “You can really hold your liquor.” Others ignore me during meetings and direct all their technical questions to my male colleagues. Still others have made obnoxious (độc địa, ghê tởm) comments about my blond hair.

“That’s a good way to start off her career,” Alvarez said. “She’s a tough cookie.” Devin Zelck said she had gone tuna-fishing (đánh cá ngừ) with her father Steve, a commercial fisherman out of Gloucester, several times but had always came up empty handed. They headed out (ra ngoài) at 5 a.m. last Friday on the Dogbar for what was supposed to be a short, half-day trip.

"Turn up your toes" nghĩa là gì?

Ôi chết chảy máu rồi. Photo by Gabby Orcutt

"Turn up your toes" -> Chết, bỏ cuộc, thất bại trong công việc nào đó.

Ví dụ
Hundreds of bouncy (hoạt bát, bặt thiệp) castle operators may turn up their toes.

Charming Charlie, a Houston retailer (người bán lẻ) known for selling flashy and colorful women's accessories, is turning up their toes after filing for bankruptcy for the second time in less than two years.

Our connection to booze (say rượu) as a relaxing, social substance consumed almost daily in Australia is a strong one. When I fell pregnant with my first son in 2010 I was of course over the moon (vui sướng cực độ), but turning up my toes felt embarrassingly hard.

"Have a dog in the hunt" nghĩa là gì?

Photo by Avel Chuklanov on Unsplash

"Have a dog in the hunt" (có con chó trong cuộc săn) -> nghĩa là có/đạt được/thu được lợi ích (liên quan) trong một tình huống nhất định.

Ví dụ
"I don't have a dog in the hunt with marijuana (cần sa), but I do believe that the city needs to reevaluate (đánh giá lại) the decision that was made.

Any college baseball fan who doesn’t have a dog in the hunt is probably on the Florida State bandwagon (phong trào) and rooting for (tìm kiếm) a Mike Martin victory in Omaha.

For those who don’t have the time to read the blogs, listen to the podcasts and stay up-to-date on every new tool or security feature, Nelson recommended hiring an expert to be a “BS filter” and cut through (bỏ qua) advertising language and slick sales pitches (câu chào hàng hào nhoáng). She also noted that getting endorsements (sự chứng thực) from trusted colleagues is also a good way to vet (đánh giá) technology because “they don’t have a dog in the hunt.”

"Break the silence" nghĩa là gì?

3..2...1 JUMP!!! Photo by Eric Ward on Unsplash

"Break the silence" = phá vỡ sự im lặng -> nghĩa là nêu ý kiến (nhận xét, đóng góp, bình luận v.v...) khi ban đầu tránh né không muốn nói, kiểu như giám đốc hỏi (trong cuộc họp) ai có ý kiến gì không đấy các bạn, anh em nín thinh luôn :); ngoài ra còn có nghĩa đơn giản là tạo tiếng động.

Ví dụ
David Sackler has decided to break the silence on behalf (thay mặt) of his family who have been blamed for fueling (thúc đẩy) the opioid crisis (cuộc khủng hoảng). The Sackler family founded Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin, which officially came to market in 1996. More than 400,000 Americans have since died of opioid overdoses (quá liều), including 200,000 from prescription medications (thuốc theo đơn) such as Purdue’s infamous painkiller (thuốc giảm đau).

Last week, the Logan County Commissioners proclaimed (tuyên bố) July as Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence Month (tháng bạo lực nội địa) in Logan County. The proclamation adopted by the commissioners states (ủy viên nhà nước) “We urge citizens to join in efforts to create social change to eradicate domestic violence (xóa bỏ bạo lực nội địa) and to support services and healing for survivors (người sống sót).

Bill and wife Sandra launched the golf tournament (giải đấu golf), and have created promotional items (hàng khuyến mãi) that include Break the Silence bracelets (vòng tay), T-shirts, golf-ball markers, and travel cups, to open a dialogue on suicide – to eliminate (loại trừ) the stigma around suicide and raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association's MOBYSS mobile youth health clinic that serves York Region and South Simcoe.

"Under the gun" nghĩa là gì?

Sắp đến deadline rồi, phải hoàn thành báo cáo ngay!!! Photo by Andrew Neel on Unsplash

"Under the gun" = trước họng súng aka (như) bị 'dí súng vào đầu' đó các bạn -> cụm từ này nghĩa là ở trong tình huống căng thẳng, nhiều áp lực, cần phải có hành động nhanh chóng, ví dụ như hạn chót báo cáo v.v...

Ví dụ
The FLA has been under the gun in recently following reports of several improprieties including the issuing of licensed firearms to persons with criminal records (tiền án tiền sự) and others who were functionally illiterate (mù chữ).

The same can’t be said for Ms. Hollub. She has about 10 months before the next shareholder meeting (họp mặt cổ đông). Meanwhile (trong lúc đó), she will be under the gun to prove the first several months of integrating Anadarko goes well. If it doesn’t, then other executives may think twice about turning to Mr. Buffett to snag a corporate prize that would otherwise be out of their reach.

“I just really enjoyed playing, actually,” Pettersen said. “It was a tough (khó khăn) start to come back with foursome stroke play. You can't ask any more difficulty. But I really enjoyed yesterday, and I really enjoyed today. It's just nice to hit shots under the gun, feeling some adrenaline and kind of execute. Overall, we played decent (đàng hoàng, tử tế). We had a couple hiccups (nấc cục) today and a couple hiccups yesterday, but, overall, I really enjoyed being back.”

"Jump up and down" nghĩa là gì?

Yeeeeee!!! Trúng số rồi, mua nhà thôi!!! Photo by Zachary Nelson on Unsplash

"Jump up and down" = nhảy nhô nhảy nhào -> cảm xúc trào dâng, mãnh liệt, nhất là vui sướng hoặc bực tức.

Ví dụ
Listen we're not going to celebrate (ăn mừng). We're not going to jump up and down. I'm sure we're going hug and cry. We're going to exhale (thở). But we're going to help tens and thousands of people. Getting the legislation (luật pháp) passed just pads the resume, but the friendships in the 9/11 community, on Capitol Hill and formed with all of you guys in the media, that's what means the most to me.

We have always been divided (chia cắt) as a nation. That internal conflict (xung đột nội bộ) is what has helped drive us to progress as we have. Conflict creates change. It also helps create great music. Music sparks us at a cellular level (cấp độ tế bào). It flows through us and synchronizes (đồng bộ hóa) together our right foot with our left; allowing us to shed our differences for a minute to dance, stomp, jump up and down… Community. That’s what made us great.

You wouldn’t know it from watching Yeager jump up and down as his “dad” prepares his breakfast at the office, but the 2-year-old standard poodle wasn’t always so happy.

"Build castles in the air" nghĩa là gì?

Ước gì......Photo by Harley Davidson on Unsplash

"Build castles in the air" = xây lâu đài trên không -> mơ ước, hi vọng hoặc xây dựng kế hoạch rất không thực tế, chẳng bao giờ có thể thực hiện được hoặc có rất ít cơ hội để thành công.

Ví dụ
You may be in a mood (trong tâm trạng) to build castles in the air today, says Ganesha. You may be caught up in a whirlpool (vòng xoáy) of thoughts and nostalgia (hoài niệm). However, you will soon realise that the time once gone, never comes back and so, you make up for the lost time by beginning the new chapter of your life from today itself.

These are purely (thuần khiết) notional figures (số liệu công chứng) based on limited transactions (giao dịch). It would be dangerous to build castles in the air based on such valuations. Even if a thousand acres of the land pooled is put to auction (bán đấu giá) the real values will come out.

“Those who have a right to say (có quyền được nói) something on the eastern Mediterranean may speak. But where does this right come from to France? Does it have a shore on the eastern Mediterranean? What France is doing is trying to build castles in the air,” Erdoğan stated (khẳng định).

"Sell like hot cakes" nghĩa là gì?

Trông kìa, thèm quá? Photo by Pragyan Bezbaruah from Pexels

'Sell like hot cakes' = như bán bánh nóng -> bán rất chạy, rất nhanh hết hay bán 'đắt như tôm tươi'.

Ví dụ
Confiscated jewelry and watches are expected to “sell like hot cakes” at the government’s third auction of assets seized by federal authorities.

Today though, things are slightly different. 125-150cc scooters sell like hot cakes and Indians have taken to premium automobiles like a fish to water.

"The Aldi rocking chair is back, the design (thiết kế) is different though this time around. Will it sell like hot cakes like the last one?" one bargain lover wrote on Instagram.

Another British food that sounds weird (kì lạ) when described. The periwinkle (ốc bám ở cây dừa cạn) is an edible whelk (một loại ốc có thể ăn được) or sea snail. I can’t help but think that they’d sell like hot cakes if they were called the Peri Peri winkle.

"Sit tight" nghĩa là gì?

Lêu lêu Photo by Pranidchakan Boonrom from Pexels

'Sit tight' không phải là 'ngồi chặt' đâu nhé mấy bạn :) Từ này dùng để chỉ việc ngồi đợi một cách kiên nhẫn mà không gây ra tiếng động hay có hành động nào. Ngoài ra nó cũng dùng để nói tới việc kiên định, không thay đối suy nghĩ. 'Ngồi yên nhé' là câu mẹ chúng mình hay nhắc bọn trẻ con không đùa nghịch chỗ công cộng này.

Ví dụ
London markets muted as investors sit tight ahead of Fed rate cut clues (manh mối)

“With so many unknowns in play, many households will sit tight during the next two to three months.

"I think Australians are going to have to sit tight and wait to see how this political crisis plays out, to see to what extent there's actually going to be any impact in terms of British-Australia relations."

The conventional (quy ước, thông thường) wisdom is that if the federal funds rate is cut by 50 basis points, the markets will rally (cải thiện) significantly. If the Fed cuts by only 25 basis points, the markets will rally a little bit. I’m not sure anybody expects the Fed to sit tight, but if the Fed were to sit tight, conventional wisdom would be for the markets to fall.

"Shoot from the hip" nghĩa là gì?

Thôi vỡ rồi :) Photo by Alexander Dummer on Pexels

'Shoot from the hip' = bắn súng từ thắt lưng, kiểu như vừa lôi súng ra đã bắn luôn ấy vì súng thường dắt ở phần thắt lưng -> cụm từ này để chỉ việc nói hay hành động một cách vội vã, thiếu thận trọng mà không cân nhắc trước tới các hậu quả.

Ví dụ
In typical shoot-from-the-hip remarks, Brazil’s far-right president Jair Bolsonaro has declared (công khai, tuyên bố) that Ancine, Brazil’s powerful state-backed federal film agency, should accept “filters”or face closure.

Given both men's propensity (thiên hướng, xu hướng) to shoot from the hip, theirs could be an interesting alliance (đồng minh). Although the "special relationship" between the US and the UK has lost some of its shine, the US remains Britain's closest military ally.

I shall awaken (đánh thức) the spirits of Dedan Kimathi in silent prayer (cầu nguyện), as I pray for the gift of self-restraint (tự kiềm chế). Perhaps, I should learn from my grandmother, it’s her kitchen, and this is her blood (máu). Normally, Grandma would shoot from the hip, tell it as it is, but on their first few days, she indulges (chiều theo) them.

"Shed some light on" nghĩa là gì?

Bên trong có gì thú vị dấy nhở? Photo by Noelle Otto from Pexels

'Shed some light on' = ánh sáng lan tỏa ra -> để lộ thông tin hay chi tiết về thứ gì đó; làm sáng tỏ điều gì, giúp ai hiểu ra vấn đề.

Ví dụ
To help shed some light on the subject, BAZAAR asked more than 1,000 women across the U.S. for their take on the topic. It will come as no surprise to learn that results varied, especially by generation.

But imagining it might shed some light on a mechanism (bộ máy, cơ chế) for change that is missing from the unwritten constitution (hiến pháp). It has only become clear with the breakdown of the normal business of British politics.

The Athletic and Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal shed some light on potential talks between the two sides Sunday by reporting the stance (quan điểm) has softened within the Blue Jays organization to make a deal with former general manager Alex Anthopoulos, who is now employed by the Braves.

"Words to live by" -> Những lời nói mang tính triết lý và có ý nghĩa về giá trị tinh thần như sự khích lệ, sự biết ơn, tiếp thêm hy vọng và sức mạnh cho người khác.

Ví dụ
True words to live by. Marjorie Buchanan is a life-time resident of Pawnee County. She enjoys being outdoors.

Maybe they aren't even words to live by, but just words that impact each of us individually and stick with us. It could be from a book, or a movie, or a TV show, maybe even a television commercial (chương trình quảng cáo trên TV).

With St. Augustine, allow me to conclude with this heartfelt (chân thành, thành tâm) prayer: in our worship (thờ phượng), hearts, and lives, “let us turn towards the Lord God and Father Almighty (toàn năng, quyền tối cao), and with a pure heart let us give Him sincere thanks as well as our littleness will allow…. May He increase our faith, rule our mind, give us words to live by, and at last lead us to His blessedness, through Jesus Christ His Son. Amen.”

"Ignorance is bliss" nghĩa là gì?

Cứ vui đi vì cuộc đời cho phép Photo by Marcin Dampc from Pexels

'Ignorance is bliss" = không biết là hạnh phúc -> đôi khi việc bạn không biết hay thái độ không quan tâm tới việc gì sẽ khiến bạn ít áp lực hơn. Nếu bạn không biết thứ gì đó, bạn không cần phải lo lắng về nó. Chúng ta thì hay nói "bơ đi mà sống", "ngu si hưởng thái bình" phải không các bạn trẻ?

Ví dụ
"I believe that ignorance is bliss and I believe in quietly doing your work and ignoring stuff, that's also because I am slightly more thick skinned... But I have to realise that not everyone is the same and they might not be able to handle it in the same way," Ananya said.

"I think I was pretty fearless (can đảm, không sợ hãi). I think when you're younger, you are. Like, ignorance is bliss," Lopez told ET in February. "You have no idea [to think] like, 'I can fall on my face and it's gonna scar (vết thương) me for 10 years.' You know none of these things."

They say ignorance is bliss, but when it comes to shared money — the opposite is true. While these discussions may require you to feel vulnerable (tổn thương), you’ll also learn a whole lot more about each other in the process of having them — and that’s what true intimacy (thân tình) is all about, right?

"Needs must when the devil drives" nghĩa là gì?

Xếp hàng ngay ngắn đã chứ :) Photo by Suraphat Nuea-on from Pexels

“Needs must when the devil drives,” said Ritter. The question facing Ritter was what would the next generation (thế hệ) knife look like; how could he make it better? Over the years Ritter had considered “next gen” versions in various configurations, some even got sketched (phác họa) or spec'd out with Benchmade. However, none ever came to fruition (nguyện vọng) for him.

Charles Walker, a vice-chair of the 1922 Committee of backbenchers (thành viên Nghị viện Anh), openly called for a general election if the deal (giao kèo, thỏa thuận) were not passed. “She has to get a new mandate (ủy nhiệm, ủy thác) for the sake of the country. Needs must when the devil drives. We cannot go on trying to govern like this,” he told the BBC’s World At One.

We headed for the stable door, side by side. He stopped, turned his head, and looked at the pocket. Following my wife’s advice (lời khuyên), I walked six feet in front of him, turned, and held out another carrot. Out of his liquid brown eyes came the kind of dirty look that might curdle (vón cục, đông lại) new milk. Needs must when the devil drives, though, and he walked forward to lip the carrot from my hand. We went on.

"Mint money" = Đúc tiền -> Nhanh phát tài, giàu nhanh chóng hay làm việc gì đó một cách rất thành công.

Ví dụ
Fox & Friends presenter Ainsley Earhardt falsely claimed McDonald’s workers could “mint money” from tips (tiền boa) if they were nice to customers.

We just rolled out what I intend to do that is not only about decriminalizing (hợp pháp hóa) and legalizing marijuana (cần sa)… people are minting money right now, people are making a lot of money off of this new industry.

Unlike the earlier updates that involved players killing people and roaming (đi chơi long nhong) around collecting things, the Online update has truly managed to change the way the game works. A player took to Reddit to post his winnings of $2.5 million. Players have the opportunity to win a lot of cash playing the slot machines in the update. This has the potential to change the course of the game where players could detach (gỡ, tháo ra) themselves from missions to mint money instead.

"Have a green thumb" nghĩa là gì?

Bình yên nơi quê nhà. Photo by  Discovering Film

"Have a green thumb" = Có ngón tay cái xanh -> Người mát tay trồng và chăm sóc cây cảnh, trồng cây gì cũng sinh trưởng tốt và họ rất yêu thích công việc làm vườn.

Ví dụ
This Fujian farm robot has a green thumb. Robot features a sophisticated (tinh xảo) AI system and is part of an effort to create an autonomous (tự quản) farm.

If you have a green thumb and enjoy designing and looking after garden spaces, you can turn this into a business opportunity.

It is also advisable to think about what you are requiring your tenant (người thuê nhà) to do. Asking them to do some basic weeding and trimming the grass is totally reasonable and not a difficult task to do, whereas if you are requiring your tenant to have a green thumb and do technical tasks that they may not feel confident doing, they will be less likely to carry this out. Similarly, if you are asking your tenant to climb up ladders and cut down trees or branches, this could put them in danger.

Since childhood, I always had a green thumb and I was my father’s right-hand man in the garden. An assistant’s role is to provide a platform through cultural practices and operations in horticulture (nghề làm vườn) to manipulate (đánh tín hiệu) conditions so that you can prepare a turf (lớp mặt đất) for sports games.
