"Thread my way through" nghĩa là gì?

Ôi sao lại đông thế này! Photo courtesy: Gerard Mahieu

"Thread someone's way through" có từ "thread" là len, lách qua -> đi qua khu vực đông đúc, chật chội một cách cẩn thận.

Ví dụ
He threads his way through narrow alleys (ngõ hẹp) where the sun never penetrates (chiếu đến).

As I start my second lap, the pit straight chicane (mánh khóe) gets the respect it deserves. Rather than attack it, I back way off on the approach and probably look like a learner driver pulling out of a junction (giao lộ) for the first time as I cautiously (cẩn thận) thread my way through the concrete (bê tông) barriers. But on the faster, flowing parts of the circuit (đường vòng quanh) there is more margin (lề đường) for error and a bigger invitation to push...

The big question, of course, is whether May can thread her way through European negotiations (thương lượng) to emerge (nảy ra) with a plan that solves torturous (gây đau khổ) parliamentary arithmetic (tính toán nghị viên). There are fears in the Foreign Office that French president Emmanuel Macron is deliberately (cố ý) stirring up problems to force Britain to stay. And, such is the uncertain terrain (địa thế) confronting (đe dọa) our country, even senior government figures offer wildly different answers to questions on the constitutional path towards, say, a second referendum (cuộc trưng cầu dân ý) or crashing out (sụp đổ) disastrously (thảm hại) with no deal (thỏa thuận).

When it comes to Austin's stages, you can count on one hand the number of comedic performances so hilariously perfect that, years after the fact, they can still tickle your ribs just thinking about them.

If you’re looking for a slight alternative (lựa chọn) to the late summer offerings (particularly if a certain sewer-dwelling (sống dưới cống) clown isn’t your cup of tea), then you’d do well to check out The Shiny Shrimps. A hit back in its native France, this is a charming sports movie that seeks to tug (giật mạnh) at your heartstrings, tickle your ribs, and generally just make you feel a lot better about the world come to the end of the experience.

“For us, weekends are our working days and Mondays are our Sundays,” quips (lời nói châm biếm) Punit Pania. But the stand-up comic (hài độc thoại) has no complaints about such “occupational hazards (mối nguy)”. The Mumbai-based comedian, after all, left a “lucrative (có lợi)” corporate job to get into the business of delivering punchlines (câu chuyện đùa). This Deepavali (lễ hội ánh sáng ở Ấn Độ), Punit is all set to tickle your ribs with his first performance in the city, titled ‘Gainfully Employed’.

Read’s comments suggest the European tech industry is mobilized against even the limited restrictions (sự cấm, hạn chế) that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled last week when he flouted U.S. warnings that Huawei and other Chinese companies are tools of Beijing’s spy services. Johnson’s government opted to put a cap on the percentage of the 5G market that Huawei and other “high-risk” vendors provide, a policy that Read does not want to see replicated (lặp lại) in the rest of Europe.

Additionally, there's something to be said for recent free-agent signing of Cole Beasley, who just happens to be one of Bryant's best friends after having spent much of their career together with the Cowboys -- also sharing a level of disdain (thái độ khinh người) for Dallas. It's possible Beasley is texting Bryant as we speak to put a bug in his ear about Buffalo, who has an unexpected but very real chance to make waves in the playoffs.

Dolly was operating Vita Bella Photography out of 335 Center – once known as the Hollow Mercantile – when “I made a decision to not photograph the kids and families in studio anymore, but still have a space to meet with clients,” she said. “So, I went to my sister and said, ‘Hey, I want to put a bug in your ear. I’m sort of looking for someone to share space with, that would work well with the photography business. I’m only in here like once a week, twice a week, and would love to share it. The subtitle of an entry on his personal blog, written in 2014, sums up his outlook: “The failures of Westminster & Whitehall: Wrong people, bad education and training, dysfunctional (rối loạn chức năng) institutions with no architecture for fixing errors.” Some Eurosceptics want to put a bomb under Whitehall in order to get Brexit done. Mr Cummings wants to get Brexit done so that he can put a bomb under Whitehall.

Reacting to a wave of spousal violence (bạo lực gia đình, hôn nhân) in her country, the fire of fury was lit by Trinidad and Tobago writer and gender advocate Nazma Muller, who took to her social-media page urging women to organise a sex strike to starve men into submission and put the cause of women’s rights on the front burner. She has proposed that the sex strike be imposed until March 8, International Women’s Day.

“By not having a single national voter ID, we create a massive data challenge,” Dzieduszycka-Suinat said. “There is huge variation in ID requirements, in what is preferred or what is acceptable, and that in turn creates a barrier to voting. The only way to simplify that is to take the data, to put it into plain language and to make it available.”
