A “terrible” (tồi tệ) karaoke singer has been fined by a London council (hội đồng nhân dân) after subjecting his neighbours to loud renditions (thể hiện, diễn xuất) of Abba and Dolly Parton hits.

Jason Harvey, 50, triggered 150 complaints (phàn nàn, khiếu nại) with regular parties at his Romford home.

He also embarked on late-night DIY sessions, a hearing at Barkingside magistrates’ (quan toà; quan hành chánh địa phương) court heard.

Harvey was prosecuted (bị truy tố) by Barking and Dagenham council under the Environmental Protection Act (luật bảo vệ môi trường) and has been ordered to pay £2,748 in fines plus costs and a victim (nạn nhân) surcharge (phụ phí).

A neighbour (hàng xóm) in Wood Lane, who did not want to be named, said: “It has been a nightmare. I dreaded Saturday nights. It was so loud and his singing was terrible.”

...Harvey was issued with a noise abatement notice in 2019 but continued the parties, the council claimed.
