Things I’ve learned on my path to No More Little Miss Perfect

- Listen to what people think and say. Their ideas are just as important as mine, if not more important. (lắng nghe người khác nghĩ và nói. ý kiến của họ cũng giống của mình, nếu không nói là quan trọng hơn)
- “Anything worth doing is worth doing.” Period. (bất cứ điều gì đáng làm là đáng làm, chấm hết)
- Be completely open to alternative ways of doing things. There’s always something new to learn. (hoàn toàn thoáng về những cách khác để tiến hành công việc, luôn có điều mới để học)
- It’s absolutely OK to not be a perfectionist. In practice, perfection isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Not if I care about my relationships. (ko phải là người hoàn hảo/cầu toàn cũng chẳng sao, hoàn hảo chẳng đáng để quan tâm, nếu chú trọng đến quan hệ cá nhân)
- Expecting perfection in others is a good way to lose friends and alienate colleagues. (mong đợi hoàn hảo ở người khác là cách tốt để mất bạn bè và xa lánh đồng nghiệp), ui cái này biết rồi "nước trong không có cá, người xét nét quá không có bạn" (nghe từ chị Phương, trước làm ở Văn phòng Cục) :)
- “It doesn’t always have to be efficient.” (không nhất thiết lúc nào cũng phải hiệu quả)
- Purposefully seeking out an approach that I wouldn’t normally think of can lead to adventures and discoveries and playful enjoyment. (chủ động tìm kiếm cách thức làm việc/giải pháp mà bình thường không nghĩ tới lại có thể dẫn đến phiêu lưu, khám phá và thích thú :)
- Just for a change, plan to not make a plan. Just forge ahead and see how it goes. (chỉ là hướng tới sự thay đổi, cố gắng không lập kế hoạch, hướng về phía trước và xem tình hình diễn ra sao)
- Listen first. Think. Listen more. Only after that, it’s OK to speak my mind or give my opinion. (trước hết, hãy lắng nghe, suy ngẫm, lắng nghe nhiều hơn nữa, chỉ sau đó mới nói lên ý kiến của mình) ("nghe cho bằng hết, nhưng chưa chắc nghe theo hết", nghe từ Toàn)
- Sometimes my way is a good way. But other people can decide that on their own, without my help. It’s OK to present my ideas; it’s not OK to be forceful or insistent about them.
- I don’t have to be in charge of getting things done. I can gracefully accept when others step up to take charge. In fact, I enjoy encouraging them forward.
- I will absolutely learn something new when I observe how others do things. I enjoy following their path as a change from my own.
- Go with the flow.
- I’m not perfect, never have been, never will be.
- Working with others is so much more interesting than working to control them.
- I’ve never been hooked on an outcome, just on the process for getting there. I’m now enjoying not being hooked on the process either.
- Relinquishing control is as rewarding and as powerful as taking control.
- Cats have all the answers.
- This can be quite a memorable day as long as you don't struggle to accomplish too much.
