"Treat like dirt" nghĩa là gì?

“How did Alan manage (kiên nhẫn) to put up with (chịu đựng) his manager for so long? She gave him the worst assignments (công việc tệ nhất). She constantly criticized him in front of co-workers. She even took credit (hưởng công trạng) for some of his ideas. Finally, after being treated like dirt (đối xử tàn tệ) for almost a year, he quit. Good for him! He deserves a boss who values him.”

“What is it about society today? When my generation (thế hệ) was growing up, we were taught to respect (kính trọng) our elders! These days, young people treat us like dirt (đối xử với chúng tôi như rác). They show little interest in the sacrifices (hy sinh) we made. They put us into nursing homes (viện dưỡng lão). Most of them won’t even offer us a seat (nhường ghế) on a crowded bus!”
