"Rant and Rave" nghĩa là gì?

Trong thành ngữ 'rant and rave' có hai động từ là to rant và to rave. Cả hai động từ này đều có nghĩa là to tiếng quát tháo, la mắng. Vì thế, cũng dễ hiểu khi thành ngữ 'rant and rave' có nghĩa là mắng nhiếc, quát tháo một cách giận dữ.

“It began when our neighbor hosted a loud party that went on until 3:00 A.M. So when my wife woke up she was in a foul (bực bội) mood. To make matters worse, one of the party guests parked his car in our drive way, so that my wife’s car was blocked in. I never heard my wife get so irate (hết sức giận dữ). She ranted and raved (quát ầm) all morning about how inconsiderate (chẳng biết điều) these people were.”
“I’m glad our last foreman (quản đốc) was let go. Every time some little thing went wrong on the assembly line, he was ranting and raving (quát tháo ầm ĩ). The new guy is the complete opposite. He explains the problems calmly, never getting agitated (nổi nóng). I find his approach helps the team work a lot more effectively.”
