"Zone out" nghĩa là gì?

Người Mỹ dùng 'zone out' khi trí óc một người không còn sáng suốt, không thể suy nghĩ gì được nữa vì mệt mỏi hay gặp tai nạn, hay một tin buồn.
Ví dụ
“When our flight arrived in Hanoi, it was noon. That’s an almost 12 hour difference from the time in New York. So we went sightseeing, and then stopped to eat some food. Now it’s three o’clock. I’m so exhausted, I can’t stay focused anymore. I’m zoning out (đờ đẫn cả người).”
“The accident happened so fast. As the victim of the car crash was lying lifeless in the road, the old woman who was driving just sat motionless. I went over to ask her if she was O.K. But she continued to stare into space like she wasn’t aware of anything. She was zoned out (thẫn thờ cả người). I think the trauma (chấn động) must have been too great for her.”
