Cost có nghĩa là giá cả, phí tổn. Thành ngữ 'at all cost', còn có thể viết số nhiều là at all costs, nghĩa là bằng bất cứ giá nào.

Ví dụ
“High school coaches (huấn luyện viên) used to say that it wasn’t whether you won or lost but how you played the game (điều quan trọng là thi đấu như thế nào). Today, many of them push their athletes to win at all cost (bằng mọi giá). But doing everything necessary to succeed teaches children the wrong lesson (bài học sai lầm). What they learn on the field has consequences (hậu quả) later in life.”

“Look in my collection and I have a Christmas card from almost every president in U.S. history. One exception is the 1963 greeting from the Kennedys. After the tragedy (thảm kịch) of JFK’s assassination, however, no cards were sent. I’m willing to pay whatever amount to obtain one of only 30 that had been signed. I really want that at all cost ( bằng bất cứ giá nào).”
