"Like water off a duck's back" nghĩa là gì?

I could never be as tolerant (khoan dung) as my girlfriend is. Her mom finds fault with (chê trách) everything about her: how she looks, what she wears, where she works, whom she has for friends... But it’s all like off a duck's back. My girfiend doesn’t let those remarks upset (khó chịu) her.

The soccer player didn’t appreciate (bất mãn) the rude remark (lời nói thô lỗ) made by an opposing team member. He was so disturbed (tức giận) that he struck the other guy with his head until the guy fell to the ground. Was the soccer player right to feel insulted (hạ nhục) or should he have let it pass like water off a duck's back?
