"Tall oaks from little acorns grow" nghĩa là gì?

'Tall oaks from little acorns grow' có từ oak là cây sồi, và acorn là quả đầu, nghĩa là những vấn đề lớn nhất, điều vĩ đại có thể bắt đầu từ nguyên do nhỏ hay đơn giản nhất (great things may come from small beginnings). Việt Nam có tục ngữ gần tương tự 'cái sảy nảy cái ung', nhưng đây chỉ nói về phía tiêu cực của tục ngữ này.

Ví dụ
'Large streams from little fountains flow, tall oaks from little acorns grow," is an old saying and so it is with the vanilla pod. I, however, speak not of a vanilla pod per se but The Vanilla Pod Eatery at The Park Retail Centre, Carrickmines, which is sprouting (nhú lên, phát triển) its own little pod by way of the Pod Pizza, opening on December 15, in the unit right next door to its initial venture.

On the whole, we are incapable of forgiveness and kindness. Not unlike “Tall oaks from little acorns grow” this human condition driving us to seek out others with similar prejudice views of religion, culture, hatred etc… are all contributors to the foundation of our ultimate demise (chết, băng hà). Exactly like maggots (con giòi), we thrive on others’ demise.

In those early days we spoke more of the cup match than of the cup campaign. It did not become a real campaign until 1983 when we achieved our first ever victory in a senior cup match (6-3 v St Paul's at Jones' Road, it took seven long years to achieve our first victory at this level, that's how tough it was) but 'tall oaks from little acorns grow' and it is our proud boast that we have never failed to make it into the main competition since the new structure embracing the McMullen Cup feeding into the Vinnie Murray Cup and eventually through to the Senior Cup came into being.
