While our province has always been known for its linguistic tensions, the study by researchers Christian Joyal and Julie Carpentier shows that we may soon become known for something much more erotic: our rather risqué sexual proclivities.
Handcuffs (còng tay), blindfolds (bịt mắt), spanking (đánh, phát vào mông) — Joyal said there is significant interest among Quebecers in engaging in those types of sexual activities. People aren’t just fantasizing about it, he added; they wish to do it.
Nearly half of the 1,040 Quebecers surveyed (45.6 per cent) have an interest in at least one type of sexual behaviour considered anomalous (dị thường, không có quy tắc), like voyeurism (thị dâm), fetishism (vật gợi dục) and masochism (khổ dâm, bạo dâm). One third of them had experienced the behaviour at least once.
the data should not be interpreted as evidence of a high prevalence of paraphilic disorders, or paraphilias, among the general population. Rather, its goal was to investigate whether it’s appropriate to label all paraphilic interests as anomalous.
...While men overall were more interested in paraphilic behaviours than women, women had a stronger interest in sexual masochism. Joyal also found that women who report an interest in sexual submission have more varied sexual interests and report greater satisfaction with their sex lives.
