"Time and tide wait for no man" nghĩa là gì?

'Time and tide wait for no man' = thời gian và sóng biển không chờ đợi ai -> nghĩa là không thể dừng hay làm chậm lại thời gian (one cannot stop or slow the passage of time).

Ví dụ
A couple of years may seem like a century away, but time and tide wait for no man. Between now and then, India has another 53 ODI’s to work out a squad. Fifty-three! That’s more than what I got on my Grade 10 math test.

As Geoffrey Chaucer, one of the earliest English poets put it: "Time and tide wait for no man." Unlike with wind and solar, the amount of energy being produced from tides is predictable months in advance and is now being recognized as a major renewable resource.

The old sailor's saying “Time and tide wait for no man” has always stuck with me because of how accurately it depicts surfing in New York. It’s very hard to find good waves in NY with all the elements needed to line up (wind, tide, swell from storms that don’t come that often, sandbars eroding etc.).
