"Cook the books" nghĩa là gì?

'Cook the books' = xào nấu sổ sách -> nghĩa là thay đổi số liệu kế toán một cách không trung thực hoặc vi phạm luật pháp (alter facts or figures dishonestly or illegally); gian lận sổ sách = "kế toán sáng tạo" (creative accounting is a euphemism referring to accounting practices that may follow the letter of the rules of standard accounting practices, but deviate from the spirit of those rules).
