'Washed up' khi được dùng trong dạng bị động có nghĩa không còn thành công nữa, hết thời.
Ví dụ
“What’s the fastest way to regain fame? Die. A majority of Americans had felt negatively about Michael Jackson. He was largely considered a failure, all washed up (đã hết thời). But after his shocking (gây bàng hoàng) death in 2009, his popularity grew and sales of items featuring his life and music soared. How tragic (bi thảm) that celebrities like him never lived to enjoy their new success!”
