"Feast or Famine" nghĩa là gì?

'Feast or Famine' có một từ mới là famine nghĩa là đói kém. Thành ngữ này dùng để chỉ sự thay đổi quá độ giữa giàu sang và nghèo khó, giữa thành công và thất bại.
Ví dụ
I love playing in a jazz band. But I can’t rely on (dựa vào) it for a full-time salary. During the spring and summer, we get hired a lot to play at weddings, outdoor concerts (buổi hòa nhạc ngoài trời) and festivals. Then, once the cooler temperatures set in (khi trời trở lạnh), we don’t get that many jobs at all. It’s feast or famine (khi thì quá dư giả, khi thì đói kém).
Cape Cod has always been a popular destination for tourists in the summer who enjoy activities like going to the beach, fishing or whale watching (xem cá voi). For providers of goods and services there, business used to be rather feast or famine. But people are now living in the area year-round. So business is more constant.
