"Gloss over" nghĩa là gì?

'Gloss over' là khoác vẻ ngoài giả dối để che đậy những việc rắc rối, khó xử.
Ví dụ
My girlfriend was telling a friend of hers about the trip the two of us had gone on. While she talked about the scenic (phong cảnh đẹp) drive we’d taken and the nice restaurants we enjoyed, she never mentioned how the airline had lost our luggage (hành lý) or how noisy our hotel room was! Instead, she chose to gloss over (phớt qua) all of them. I almost didn’t recognize that I had been with her!
People can be fascinated (say mê) with celebrities (nhân vật nổi tiếng). We love how they overcame great challenges in their rise to success. But often their life stories fail to mention drug or alcohol addictions (nghiện ngập), problems with relationships or criminal behavior. Indeed, biographers (nhà viết tiểu sử) have a habit of glossing over such unpleasant facts.
