"Have had one’s day" nghĩa là gì?

'Have had one’s day' (lúc nào cũng dùng thì quá khứ của to have) có nghĩa là hết thời, không còn hữu ích nữa.
Ví dụ
What do telephone books, fountain pens (bút mực) and books have in common? Many critics would argue that each has had its day (hết thời). Few people use them anymore. Phone numbers can be found on-line. And who doesn't write e-mail or download e-books instead?
When they started, my bosses brought a lot of energy (sinh lực) and enthusiasm (nhiệt tình) to the company. But that was twenty years ago. They have had their day. They're not so valuable anymore. They should move aside for younger employees, who understand the current market.
