'Call no man happy till he dies' nghĩa là bạn không thể biết cuộc sống một người nào là hạnh phúc trọn vẹn trừ khi cho tới khi người ấy đã mất, dù hiện tại anh ta có hạnh phúc bao nhiêu, thì rủi ro/bất hạnh vẫn có thể xảy ra bất kỳ lúc nào (you cannot tell if a person's life has been happy on the whole until that person's life is over; no matter how happy someone is now, something bad may happen to destroy his or her happiness).

Ví dụ
“Call no man happy till he is dead,” said Greek playwright Aeschylus. Two-and-a-half millennia on, who would deny that our world is still no place for the sensitive of soul?

The film's three minute trailer opens with the quote, 'Call no man happy till he is dead.' In the film Ryan plays practical jokes on his unsuspecting friends and during the trailer Ryan's character says: "Being dead is the best thing that ever happened to me. Ever.'

If you are only looking at assets and debts you are essentially looking at the Balance Sheet of an individual. Just as in business, this is useful but incomplete. To understand how well an enterprise or individual is doing, you have to also know the Income Statement as well. The question of who is "better off" is analagous to the wisdom of Solon's observation that we can call no man happy till he is dead.
