'Jazz up' có từ jazz là một loại nhạc rất thịnh hành, xuất xứ từ thành phố New Orleans vào khoảng đầu thế kỷ thứ 20, với những âm điệu rất tự do phóng khoáng. 'Jazz up' là làm một điều gì cho tươi tắn hơn, và nếu nói về thức ăn thì làm cho nó có nhiều hương vị hơn. 'Jazz it up' còn được dùng trong nhiều trường hợp khác như trong những buổi họp, những cuộc trình diễn thời trang hay những buổi thuyết trình.

Ví dụ
He jazzed up the food with a spicy sauce.

Using new tools to jazz up piano lessons: her students can play computer games like "UFO" and "Shooting Gallery" to identify notes and rhythm.

Review/Fashion; Little-known stars jazz up the opening act: Nancy Goodman and Carol Stenroos had just come from their Metro-North train -- they were on their way to see a Broadway show -- when the left breast of a model in the Atil Kutoglu show suddenly popped out of her blouse and appeared, larger than life, on the screen.

Are you tired of making the same boring (chán ngấy) rice (cơm) for dinner? Then jazz up with New Orleans Style Rice. It features a unique blend (đặc biệt) of seasonings and spices (đồ gia vị). So don’t eat the same old thing, jazz it up with Orleans Style Rice tonight.

Well, I think your presentation (buổi thuyết trình) needs to be jazzed up a bit more. Add a few interesting visuals (hình ảnh đặc sắc), and perhaps some other statistics!
