At a social gathering

CONVERSATION WITH COLLOQUIAL
A: Hello. You must be Len. I'm Bill, Kate's husband.
B: Oh, hello Bill. Nice to meet you. Thanks for inviting me.
A: You're welcome. Kate and I thought it was about time we had a get together and meet each other's work colleagues. Kate tells me you've just joined the company.
B: Yes. I've been there about four months now. Kate's been very helpful, showing me the ropes.
A: Yes, she enjoys her job.
B: What line of work are you in Bill?
A: I'm a builder. I work with Joe and Kevin over there.
B: Oh yes, I met Kevin earlier. Well, it's a top spot you have here Bill.
A: Thanks. Yes, it has a lot going for it. It beats living in the city.
B: You can say that again. Have you lived here long?
A: Oh... going on three years now. Mind you the house wasn't like this when we moved in. It's taken the good part of three years to do it up. But I enjoy decorating. It's a hobby really.
B: Well, it's a credit to you. It looks great.
A: Thanks very much. Can I get you another drink?
B: No thanks, I'm OK. I'm playing golf first thing in the morning, so I want to have my wits about me.
A: Oh, Kate and I play golf now and again. We should get together for a game sometime.
B: OK, that sounds good, I'll take you up on that. By the way, have you been following the tennis? Who won last night?
A: I'm sorry, I don't know. I'm not really up on tennis. I watch a game on TV once in a while but I'm not really into it. Come on, I'll introduce you to Joe - he'll be up on the latest results.
