"Dig one's heels in" nghĩa là gì?

Khi ai đó 'dig his/her heels in', điều đó có nghĩa là họ nhất quyết từ chối thay đổi hành động hoặc ý kiến của mình (bướng bỉnh, dứt khoát không lùi bước).

Ví dụ
Even though the developer offered them more than their houses were worth, the owners dug their heels in and refused to sell up and make way for the office block.
When their record company told the band to change their style and make more commercial music, the band dug their heels in and refused to change.
The student dug her heels in and refused to obey the instructions.
We suggested it would be quicker to fly, but she dug her heels in and insisted on taking the train.

Xin đừng nhầm với 'Drag Your Heels' (kéo lê gót chân), tức là làm một việc gì một cách chậm chạp, miễn cưỡng.

They say that Congress will eventually okay the money the White House (Tòa Bạch Ốc) wants for the new education program, but it will drag its heels (kéo dài thời gian) about bringing the issue up for a vote (đưa ra biểu quyết) and won’t vote on it until the members are ready to go home (sửa soạn về nhà) this summer.
