When my kids are at home, I make sure they eat healthy, nutritious (bổ dưỡng) food. But when they visit my mom, she gives them lots of sweets (đồ ngọt). I really shoud stop her, but I know she only wants to spoil them a bit. That’s why I turn a blind eye, and ignore all the cookies (bánh bích quy) and candy (kẹo) she offers them.

Records (hồ sơ) show that the mayor had been caught speeding (chạy xe quá tốc độ) on several occasions, but never received a ticket. It seems police turned a blind eye. But they couldn’t overlook his illegal (bất hợp pháp) behavior after he ran through a red light and struck a pedestrian (người đi đường)!
