'A step in the right direction' có một từ mới là direction nghĩa là phương hướng. Vì thế a step in the direction là bước đầu hướng tới mục tiêu mà mình muốn đạt được.
Ví dụ
My son hasn’t been doing well in his classes lately (dạo này). So now I’m only allowing (cho phép) him to play video games for half an hour each day. That may not solve the problem, but I believe it’s a step in the right direction (một bước đi đúng hướng). With more time for his school work, his grades (điểm) will likely get better.
Fix (sửa) leaky faucets (vòi nước rò rỉ), use plastic bags again and again, change your light bulbs and buy rechargeable batteries! If you do all these things, you’re taking a step in the right direction. That’s how you’ll save more energy and money, too.
