"Get one's act together" nghĩa là gì?

'Get one's act together' (shared via VOA) có từ act là hành động, hành vi, và together là chung với nhau. 'Get one's act together' là thích ứng với hoàn cảnh mới bằng cách hành động có hiệu quả, hay chỉnh đốn lại cách làm việc của mình.

Ví dụ
Farming organisations across Europe must get their act together to demand fairer prices from supermarkets for their members.
That is why we need to get our act together in terms of organisation and resources so people get the best possible treatment.

Polio’s return after near eradication prompts a global health warning: “Things are going in the wrong direction and have to get back on track before something terrible happens,” said Gregory Hartl, a W.H.O. spokesman. “So we’re saying to the Pakistanis, the Syrians and the Cameroonians, ‘You’ve really got to get your acts together.'”

It’s too bad we just lost a match (trận đấu) even though we did the best we could. We’re going to have to get our act together if the team (đội bóng) wants to qualify for the finals (vòng chung kết).

John, I noticed (để ý thấy) that you haven’t cleaned your room or done your homework (bài tập về nhà) like I asked you. Listen, you’d better get your act together or you’re not borrowing (mượn) the car tomorrow night.
