On the first point, PM Modi’s speech at the SAARC summit on 26 November needs to be read between the lines. It is a speech with deep political implications (ngụ ý chính trị) which is important not only for what is being said but also for what has been left unsaid.

In his report (bản phúc trình), the president (ông giám đốc) wrote that the company had a bright future (tương lai tươi sáng). Reading between the lines (đọc các ẩn ý), however, many stockholders got the sense (có cảm tưởng) that he didn’t believe his own forecast (tiên đoán).

Even though my girlfriend says that everything’s fine (êm đẹp) between us, I suspect (nghi ngờ) that, in fact, something is bothering (khiến buồn phiền) her. I know her well enough that I’m able to read between the lines.

The NLT published research suggesting that “touchscreen technology can be more effective in engaging children aged three to five with reading than books”, and that these effects are amplified (mở rộng, phóng đại) in low-income households. But read between the lines, and a rather different story emerges (nảy ra).
