'Knock your socks off' nghĩa là làm bạn hoàn toàn ngạc nhiên hoặc hài lòng (to completely surprise or please you very much); hay một nghĩa khác là đánh bại hoàn toàn đối thủ (to completely defeat a competitor).

Ví dụ
Japan and Korea knocked the socks off the United States in tests of science and math.

Some prefer those big, bold flavors, but it just goes to show that not every beer has to knock your socks off in order to get noticed.

If American Pharoah wins the Rebel on Saturday, the return on a $2 win ticket is not going to knock your socks off. If we want to make a little money betting the Rebel, we must figure out who is going to finish in second and third behind the heavy favorite.

To his ardent (mãnh liệt, nồng nàn) coterie (nhóm, phái), this fire-breathing entertainer wants nothing less than to knock your socks off and break your heart at the same time. Those who feel assaulted view his stage deportment as a display of rampant (hùng hổ, không kiềm chế) egomania (tính chất hết sức ích kỷ) and an insatiable (tham lam vô độ) desperation for applause.
