"Off the hook" nghĩa là gì?

'Off the hook' có từ hook (nghĩa bóng) là nghĩa là cạm bẫy; và vì thế có nghĩa là thoát trách nhiệm, hết gặp trở ngại (freed from an obligation, having avoided a difficult situation).
