'Cut the price to the bone' nghĩa là giảm giá/hạ giá tới mức tối thiểu.

I must admit we haven't felt "constantly" scammed in Viet Nam. Most of the people we dealt with were honest and helpful, I admit not being into bargaining down to the last dong because I felt that even paying over the odds that a local would it was win-win, I still got it cheaper than I would pay at home and the vendor made a little extra that day. If I had wanted to cut the price to the bone I would have. We were ripped off by one taxi of all those we took, caught by the pineapple ladies our first time in Ha Noi and scammed for a ride in Sa Pa once (I knew it at the time but silly me left it up to my DH :-) ). I found the vendors at the Hai Van Pass annoying and another one in Da Nang as well, and the cyclo guys in Hue can be pests, but otherwise the market people are not nearly as in your face as they are in Hong Kong, for instance.
