"Tax holiday" nghĩa là gì?

'Tax holiday' nghĩa là thời gian miễn thuế, thời gian ưu đãi về thuế (a temporary reduction or elimination of a tax. It is synonymous with tax abatement, tax subsidy or tax reduction. Governments usually create tax holidays as incentives for business investment.)

Ví dụ
While the Super Bowl tax break produced about an hour’s worth of debate in the Senate, few mentioned the sales tax holiday, which the state has held off and on for more than a decade.

Keeping the promise for exempting start-ups in the initial phases, the Narendra Modi government may provide the 3-year tax holiday even if the new venture's sales cross Rs 25 crore threshold for getting the 100 per cent tax rebate.

The favorite Back-to-School sales tax holiday, which state economists say saves Florida shoppers $23 million, topped FRF’s list of victories, which included bills to block local governments from banning Styrofoam, provide access to overdose drug Naloxone without a prescription and allow retail businesses to re-enter more quickly disaster areas.

"Tax exile" nghĩa là gì?

'Tax exile' có từ exile là sống tha hương, sống lưu vong; vì thế từ này nghĩa là người sống lưu vong tránh thuế, có thu nhập cao nhưng chọn nơi thu thuế thấp để sống (a person with a high income or considerable wealth who chooses to live in a country or area with low tax rates).

Ví dụ
Mr. Ashcroft has previously faced criticism as a "tax exile" for establishing a permanent residence in Belize.

Former tax exile David Rowland, who was based in Guernsey for 40 years, has donated almost £3million to the Tories and was appointed party treasurer in June 2010.

From their drugged-up years in tax exile, cash has always been a crucial concern for the world’s greatest rock and roll band (The Rolling Stones), who increasingly seem like the British equivalent of Coca Cola.

Described previously by commentators as a “tax exile,” Lewis currently owns multiple expansive properties in the Bahamas - where he reportedly spends the majority of his time at a luxury estate — plus some 12,000 hectares in El Bolsón.

"Tax dodger" nghĩa là gì?

'Tax dodger' có từ dodge là chạy lắt léo, di chuyển lắt léo (để tránh...), lẩn tránh/né tránh; vì thế từ này nghĩa là người trốn thuế = tax evader.

Ví dụ
Bernie Sanders calls Verizon a tax dodger.

Yale is not some hedge fund manager or a corporate tax dodger like General Electric.

David Cameron last night insisted he was not a tax dodger as he tried to defuse fury over his father's dodgy offshore fund.

Chevron, the US oil giant behind Australia's biggest liquefied natural gas project, hits back at 'tax dodger' label.
