"Big-time operator" nghĩa là gì?

'Big-time operator' = nhà điều hành thời đại lớn -> nghĩa là người kinh doanh/làm ăn lớn (someone who does business in a big way); ngoài ra còn có nghĩa khác là người theo đuổi phụ nữ (a man who chases women).

Ví dụ
April Hemmes, a self-proclaimed big-time operator (BTO) of corn and soybeans in Hampton, Iowa.

McCabe's Bar, the longstanding Westside dive that boasted karaoke tunes, shuttered last summer with the potential of a big-time operator taking over the space.

Bob had established his credentials as a money launderer by luring dealers on the fringes of the cartels with his undercover colleague Emir Abreu. To be accepted as a big-time operator he had to look the part, which is where wealthy friends helped out.

Even without high visibility catalysts, the stock is undervalued primarily because it's somewhat harder to understand than most gaming companies. It's not a big time operator of visible Las Vegas strip resorts, a geographically broad-based US regional, or even a powerhouse in the Las Vegas locals casino resort market.

Pleasant Level Farm was the original farm and a Land Grant from King George III of England to Nicholas Mills in 1725. The original acreage has never left the Mills family name and continues to be farmed by the family. Now the farm covers 5,744 acres that produce corn, wheat, soybeans, barley, hay and timber, and pastures a large herd of beef cattle. They have been using conservation and stewardship practices since the 1960s. Some of the efficient practices include no-till planting methods and cover crops to reduce soil erosion and prevent the leaching of nutrients into ground water, as well as livestock stream exclusion. The farm has several conservation easements that aids in the preservation and restoration of wetlands and waterways.

Low-Cost Wind Turbine to Power an Entire House for a Lifetime Starts Selling in India

these words “for the cost of an iPhone, you can now buy a wind turbine that can power an entire house for a lifetime” have been trending

India is the world’s sixth largest energy consumer, accounting for 3.4% of total global energy consumption.

to help rural dwellers, a startup in the country has invented a cheap wind turbine that could power an entire house for a lifetime. The young company called Avant Garde is owned by two young siblings, Arun and Anoop George. They are based in the Indian southern state of Kerala. Their wind turbine can generate 3-5 kW of electricity daily.

Without erecting electric posts and electric lines that require huge investments that could cost millions of dollars, Avant Garde was able to generate clean and renewable electricity for the people in the area through their wind turbine.

Vietnam’s education system may slow future economic growth

“Countries that have been successful moving up to the next economic stage already had developed country levels of education when they were middle-income economies,” said Scott Rozelle, a Stanford University development economist. “Countries that didn’t have that collapsed or became stuck in the middle-income trap.”

More parents are now sending their children overseas to study to improve their work prospects. The number of Vietnamese studying in Japan, including language schools, grew more than 12-fold in the six years to May 2016, reaching about 54,000, according to the Japan Student Services Organization... But for those stuck in the state system, education can be “a big waste of time and money,” said Luu Quang Tuan, deputy head of the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs.

The economy has one of the weakest industrial productivity levels in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Singapore’s is 26 times higher than Vietnam; Malaysia 6.5 times greater and Thailand and Philippines about 1.5 times.
