French fashion icon Jean-Paul Gaultier opened up a new front in the battle over bras Wednesday with "Free the nipple (núm vú, đầu vú)" slogans in his Paris haute couture (thời trang cao cấp) show.
The flamboyant (hoa mỹ, khoa trương, cường điệu) designer showed his support for a Florida teenager who was made to cover her nipples in bandages (dải vải để buộc quanh chỗ bị thương hoặc vết thương, băng) at her high school (trường trung học) for not wearing a bra (áo ngực, áo lót, nịt vú, yếm) under her sweatshirt.
Lizzy Martinez, 17, made headlines in April when she said teachers told her to wear a second shirt and put plasters on her nipples after they claimed other students had been distracted (bị xao lãng) by her breasts (ngực).
Gaultier said it was a "scandalous" that a girl should be treated that way, and used his collection to support her.
