"Not playing with a full deck" nghĩa là gì?

"Not playing with a full deck" có từ "deck" trong "deck of cards" tức là bộ bài có 52 lá. Nếu người nào chơi thiếu bài ("not playing with a full deck") thì người đó thiếu trung thực và đang tạo lợi thế cho người khác. Cụm từ này cũng chỉ người không bình thường/ không thông minh.

Ví dụ
Marty uses the alias (biệt hiệu) “Marty Tollington” on Facebook – we know that because he is dumb enough to admit it. Similarly, he uses an alias on Twitter (IronHorseman101), and is dumb enough to link to his Facebook page from it. Marty is clearly not playing with a full deck.

My present policy is to pretend that I am insane (giả vờ điên). Just as no insane person could be executed (tử hình) under the law (until Henry VIII changed it), I operate on the premise (giả thuyết) that no journalist will bother with a person who isn’t playing with a full deck.

The Astros aren’t exactly playing with a full deck right now. Shortstop Carlos Correa is still on the mend (hồi phục) after broken ribs (gãy xương sườn) were the result of a massage gone terribly wrong while All-Star Alex Bregman bowed out of Thursday night’s game with a lacerated chin (cằm rách) (it took four stiches to close the gash).
