Alabama passes bill requiring chemical castration for certain child molesters (người quấy rầy, người làm phiền, người gạ gẫm)
The bill, known as HB 379, was introduced by Republican state Rep. Steve Hurst and targets child sex offenders (người phạm tội, người phạm lỗi) whose offenses involve anyone under 13, according to the legislation.
“They have marked this child for life and the punishment should fit the crime,”
The offenders would be required to foot the bill for the procedure. Refusing to undergo the castration would constitute a violation of parole (sự phóng thích tù nhân sau khi người đó cam kết giữ tư cách đạo đức tốt; lời hứa của tù nhân nhận rằng anh ta sẽ không tìm cách chạy trốn (nếu được tha trong một thời gian có giới hạn) hoặc không phạm một tội khác (nếu được thả trước khi mãn hạn); bản cam kết của tù nhân, tù binh... để được tha), the bill (dự luật) reads.
Hurst said his aim is to reduce the number of sex crimes committed (phạm tội) against children by making potential offenders think twice before they act.
