"Clothes don't make the man" -> nghĩa là không nên đánh giá ai đó qua quần áo hoặc vẻ bề ngoài của họ; "chiếc áo không làm nên thầy tu".

Ví dụ
Some might say that the clothes don’t make the man, but in my view, flip-flops (dép xỏ ngón) are for the beach, not the boardroom.

Ninja-K's gloves have knockout gas and (of course) retractable (có thể thu vào) nails with poison on them. That’s not counting the exoskeleton's advanced strength. Even his belt contains throwing-discs that can be used as a weapon because they are made of high tensile (sức căng) titanium. The clothes don’t make the man, but they sure help.

But unlike during the ’80s when all of my pop idols also had a similar look, now the fashion and the person are being kept independent of one another. In many ways, it’s been the best example of how we have evolved (tiến hóa) to a point where the clothes do make the look, but the clothes don’t make the man (or woman).
