The book, titled “From Where I Stand: Rebuilding Indigenous (bản xứ, bản địa) Nations for a Stronger Canada,” is scheduled for release (ra mắt) on Sept.

If this is so, when I am in Port of Spain and I look out my window, from where I stand I will see sunshine; but if I pick up the phone and call a friend in San Fernando and she looks out her window she may see rain.

From where I stand inside the South Dakota cornfield (ruộng ngô) I was visiting with entomologist (nhà côn trùng học) and former USDA scientist Jonathan Lundgren, all the human-inflicted (sự tổn thương do nhân loại) traumas (tổn thương) to Earth seem far away. It isn't just that the corn is as high as an elephant's eye — are people singing that song again? — but that the field burgeons and buzzes (tiếng vo ve) and chirps (tiếng rúc) with all sorts of other life, too.

Of late, the debate (tranh luận) on former President Ian Khama’s involvement in politics while still holding his position of a Chief, has come under sharp focus by some, if not all members of the public largely belonging to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). From where I stand, this debate is painfully hypocritical (đạo đức giả) let alone self-serving. It must be stated without flinching that these issues are topical because the tables have turned with Khama providing political mileage he would otherwise provide to the BDP, to other political formations. And in driving a political agenda that could potentially hurt the BDP, he effectively uses the chieftainship (cương vị thủ lĩnh) tag to drive the point home. Naturally and considering the bigger political implication (sự liên can) and ramifications (sự rẽ nhánh) of Khama’s intentions, the BDP should be worried and scared to the marrow (tận xương tủy).
