"Get out of hock" nghĩa là gì?

Sổ ghi nợ thôi mà có cần phải chanh sả vậy không? Photo by  rupixen

"Get out of hock" -> Không còn mang công mắc nợ ai.

Ví dụ
In general, a lender can file a simple release, rather than a “full satisfaction,” to release the lien (quyền lưu giữ) on a house when a debt has not been fully got out of hock. In that case, the borrower still owes money to the lender, but the debt is no longer secured by the house.

Sokha could get out of hock. He had put up a hectare of his land as collateral (phụ thêm), and the bank had twice sent an employee to his property to inquire about the money he owed. Sokha was forced to sell some of his land -- below market value. In turn, he took out another microloan to pay off the rest of the first one.

Because now that we get out of hock, I have enough clarity to realize that we don’t have much of a life either. We don’t have children, we don’t travel, we don’t see or experience many new things, and we don’t have much of a social circle at all. Now at 37, I hear my “biological clock” (đồng hồ sinh học) pounding in my head and feel like time is running out.
