The Newsnight presenter, a mother of two, has admitted her high-flying career (nghề nghiệp bay cao) in current affairs has had an effect on her family life, and that she and her husband are ‘like ships that pass in the night’.

Most people have never heard of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the 19th-century American poet, scholar (học giả) and translator of Dante. But there is one fragment (khúc, đoạn) of his writing every-one will be familiar with, namely the phrase 'ships that pass in the night'.

“It’s just part of my day,” she says. “If I’ve not ran, like on a rest day, I just feel like something is missing. Rest days are few and far between and they are important for recovery (sự hồi phục). During the week I don’t really see my partner Perrie, but he’s really supportive. We can be like ships that pass in the night so we make sure we always do something together on the weekends.”
