"Better be an old man's darling than a young man's slave" = Thà làm người yêu cưng của một ông già hơn là làm nô lệ cho một chàng trai trẻ -> Đối với phụ nữ thì họ nghĩ thà lấy một người đàn ông già đối xử tốt và thương yêu họ hơn là lấy một người đàn ông trẻ đối xử tệ bạc và kiểm soát cuộc sống của họ.
Ví dụ
“He taught me it’s better to be an old man’s darling than a young man’s slave. “And also not to go for looks, because while a young man goes out looking for other girls, the old man will always come home to you.”

"Better be an old man’s darling than a young man’s fool” was a traditional adage (ngạn ngữ) my mother used to utter: an old man will dote (say mê) on a gal (cô gái trẻ), where a young man might take her for granted. Well, ye-es: but in the case of Hugh Hefner, 86, marrying blonde, bosomy Crystal Harris, 26, another adage comes to mind: “There’s no fool like an old fool.” The bride will be his nurse, not his spouse: but she will also be his legal heir (người thừa kế hợp pháp), which may make the nursemaid (bảo mẫu) role bearable (có thể chịu đựng được).
