"Live in sin" = sống trong tội lỗi. Cụm từ này ý chỉ các cặp đôi ăn nằm với nhau như vợ chồng dù chưa kết hôn.

Summer Grant says her fourth and second grade daughters Summara-Rayn, 10, and Summaia, 7, went to Chapel Hill Christian School for years before an administrator banned them because he believes the Akron mother is living in sin, WKYC reports.

Millions of couples across the country forego the once-customary (lệ tục) steps of courtship (tán tỉnh) and move in together before marriage. Yet, for lovers in five states -- including North Carolina -- breaking tradition is breaking the law. "It's the 'Living in Sin' statute, which is what most people know it as," explained criminal attorney (luật sư) Stephanie Goldsborough, Esq. with Dummit Fradin law firm.
