'Pester one with something' = làm phiền, quấy rầy, làm ai khó chịu (đặc biệt với những yêu cầu dai dẳng).

As I lift it towards her, she plops down a ladle-full of the fish ball, potato, egg soup that we always have on Lunar New Year. Scrunching (nhai rau ráu) and sniffing my nose after the first bowl, I finally notice the ten-plus relatives around a table that’s supposed to fit six. They start to pester me with their usual proceedings.

A couple of hours later, after seeing his cardiologist (bác sĩ tim mạch), he is now wearing an at-home heart monitor for two weeks, and is on some light medication. His doctor also mentioned he was the second patient this week to come in after the Apple Watch detected AFib, and the first patient was also not a false-positive. Thankfully, my father should be fine and hopefully will continue to pester me with technology questions for years to come.

I was teaching in high school when my parents started arranging for my marriage (hôn nhân). I told them that I was planning to resign my job and join a nunnery (nữ tu viện). My mother was shocked; she took me aside and asked me why I didn’t want to get married. Began to pester me with one question after another, such as: are you afraid of going through the pain of bearing and delivering (sinh nở) children? are you afraid that your husband will beat you up? Are you in love with someone? Etc. I just kept quiet and refused to say anything.
