"Take a free-ride" nghĩa là có được sự ưu tiên, lợi thế đặc biệt mà không cần bất kỳ khoản phí nào (thường là không công bằng).

C’mon and take a free ride. A new free service using six-person, street-legal electric golf carts (xe điện) will launch Sept. 7.
As it turns out (hóa ra), people in groups are more likely to want to take a free ride—enjoy the benefits of wine and food and company without paying for it.
Of course if this is true for one fisherman (ngư dân) then it is also true for all and the agreement will be shortlived (rút ngắn) as everyone will attempt to take a free-ride on the back of others (thus the freerider problem).
Some groups, like environmentalists (nhà môi trường học), achieve an intermediate degree of success: an active lobby (vận động hành lang) pursues the policy interests (lợi ích chính sách) of a core of loyal supporters, while others with similar views take a free ride.
