"To beat the band" nghĩa là gì?

Wow sảng khoái hết sức Photo by Robert Broderick

'To beat the band' = đánh cả một dải/dãy -> nghĩa là ở mức độ lớn hoặc lớn nhất có thể; rất mạnh mẽ, nhanh nhẹn.

Ví dụ
Most photos show any pilot with an airplane grinning (cười toe toét) to beat the band, but Pancho, the accomplished stunt pilot, is grinning in every photo of her, airplane or not—delighted not just by aviation, but by “the whole damned thing.”

In a twist that nobody expected, Michael Owen’s book is creating a stir (khuấy động) for a string of controversial takes that portray the former striker as an egomaniac (người ích kỉ) with vendettas (mối thù) and bitterness (cay đắng) to beat the band.

About five miles down the road, we finally are breathing easy when we hear clink-clink and Beau sticks his head in through the sliding rear window into the cab, tail thumping (hết mức) to beat the band. Curt let out with a string of expletives (tiếng chêm vào) that used the F-word as noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, modifier and conjunction. Beau just squeezes through the window and sits between us, tongue hanging out and smiling to beat the band. Curtis locked the brakes down in the middle of the road, turned around and we headed back to the farm to drop Beau off at home.
