Waterloo Regional Police have also launched their annual Walk the Chalk, which encourages people in the community to leave messages about safety on sidewalks.

As part of its annual Walk the Chalk event, Waterloo Regional Police are once again encouraging parents and children to take time on the days leading up to September 3, 2019 to go outside and write safety messages along school routes with chalk. The intent (ý định, mục đích) is for students to read these messages as they walk to school on the first day and help encourage safe walking and biking.

First Selectman Tetreau stated, “Constitution Week gives all of us the opportunity to appreciate the freedoms we have. It is also a wonderful time for our community to honor and celebrate the importance of the Constitution. Before issuing the Proclamation to the DAR officers, I visited Fairfield Ludlowe High School to watch 60 AP U.S. Government students write out key provisions of the U.S. Constitution in chalk on the school’s sidewalks. I am so proud of our students for learning about this important document as they created a "Chalk Walk" for other students to ‘walk the chalk’ during Constitution Week!”
