"At death's door" = ở cửa tử -> nghĩa là cách nói giảm nói tránh ai đó bệnh rất nặng, có thể không qua khỏi.

Ví dụ
His skin was so pale, he looked like he was at death's door.

As Morgan Jones, Lennie James has been among the most enduring (lâu dài) faces of the Walking Dead franchise, appearing in the pilot episode (tập chiếu thử đầu tiên) and ultimately becoming the leading man on spinoff Fear the Walking Dead. Those days may be over, based on the Fear season five finale, which ends with Morgan quite literally at death's door.

The evening draws its formidable (dữ dội) strength from its central character. Stone has built the production around Pretty Yende’s Violetta, and the South African soprano (giong nữ cao) makes the part entirely her own. From the glittering coloratura (nét lèo) of the first act to the heart-rending (đau lòng) drama of the last, she has all the flexibility and the weight this chameleon (người không kiên định) role demands, and she has mesmerising charisma (sức hút lôi cuốn). It takes some persuasive theatrical skills to make us believe that a woman as strong and toned as Yende could be at death’s door, but she has them.
