"Bright young thing" = người trẻ sáng láng -> cụm từ này nghĩa là một nhân vật trẻ tuổi, giàu có, sành điệu, đầy tham vọng và có vẻ đẹp mê hoặc lòng người.

Ví dụ
Pougatch said: “If you’re [Jesse]Lingard or Dele Alli, interesting Dele Alli this week, getting rid of all of his commercial activities (hoạt động thương mại), realising that maybe he’s at a bit of a tipping point of his career: ‘hang on a second, I was the bright young thing at Tottenham and England and that’s not the case any longer’.”

In early 1980s London, Julie (Swinton Byrne) is the kind of bright young thing that would, in later years and lighter circumstances, be inseparable (không thể tách rời) BFFs with Emma Thompson's terribly chummy Maggie from 1992 university reunion comedy Peter's Friends (a sort of Return of the Secaucus Seven for wealthy Cambridge grads).

So it's interesting. There was huge competition to get these jobs. Because they were the single easiest way of enriching yourself in 18th century Britain. And so it was the equivalent (thứ tương đương) of joining Goldman Sachs, or McKinsey or something. If you were a bright young thing with good prospects (triển vọng) who needed money, this was the first port of call.
